With these turbulent times I feel very fortunate that our customers continue to invest so heavily in upgrading and expanding their distribution systems. In the last year (as most of you know), steel supply has been a major challenge, prices have increased more than 70% in addition to multiple spot shortages in the market. In several cases we have shipped steel across the country from mills thousands of miles from our plants to meet delivery commitments! Fortunately, virtually all Advance steel is domestically sourced and we have extremely strong direct relationships with the major steel mills. With a tremendous amount of hard work our team has ensured that there have been minimal disruptions to our delivery commitments.
2021 has been a challenging year in many ways but in other ways has helped us identify hidden strengths in our business process. One thing that we have learned is that our investments in a strong team, robust IT systems and infrastructure have helped transition Advance to the “work from anywhere” world with almost no interruption to our business process. At last count we had Advance team members working virtually in 14 different states! We see our long-term ability to adapt and integrate team members remotely as a great asset to strengthen and grow our capability to better serve our customer base.
Looking forward, I am excited about 2022 and our future beyond. We believe that the need for investment in the supply chain infrastructure will continue for the foreseeable future and the transition to E-commerce is permanent and will continue to have a very positive impact on all of our businesses.
Thank you to each of you for your support and partnership. If you need a quote or information for an upcoming project please contact the Advance Team.
Cheers!

Recent Projects
Another job wrapping up for the Advance team in CA for a food distributor. This pallet storage system is temperature controlled to hold produce. The system consists of 46 bays of 5 deep pushback rack and 900 total pallet positions.
Below is another recent project for a grocery customer in the Northeast. We tore down the entire area and installed 912 bays of selective pallet racking and 64 bays of 2 deep pushback pallet racking.
10,365 total pallet positions!
Automation Corner
Rover is able to support a dynamic pick module with multiple pick faces. Ideal for high SKU counts (in the 1,000’s) where moving the pallet out as they need to be picked is of major importance. These systems can support both a warehouse or retail space picking operation.
- Dynamic Pick Module – support multiple pick faces within a pick module while accessing all SKUs in the system
- Goods-To-Man Picking – support goods-to-man picking from pallet or shelving unit
- Support both warehouse and retail space picking
Join Advance in 2021
More than 450 distributors and manufacturers joined MHEDA at the 2021 Annual Convention and Exhibitor Showcase in Austin, TX. It was a great chance for Advance to speak with our distributors about how to improve our collaboration on projects.
Coming up in October, Advance will be at the IARW-WFLO Convention in Austin.
