Double Deep Reach

Double Deep Reach stores two pallets deep per bay—increasing density by reducing aisles—while remaining one of the simplest ways to gain capacity without moving to higher-complexity systems. Advance Double Deep Selective stores 2 pallet positions from a single aisle (4 pallets back-to-back) and accesses the rear load with a pantograph/deep-reach truck.

This solution is often chosen for operations that want high density at a lower initial capital cost than other high-density systems, while still keeping a familiar rack layout. It’s commonly used in Cold Storage, Food & Beverage, and Grocery facilities where cube utilization is critical.

Inventory flow becomes FILO/LIFO at the back position, visibility to the rear pallet is reduced, and productivity can drop if rear retrieval is frequent—so this works best when pallets are stored in pairs and rotation is controlled.

Structural double deep is best for high-abuse environments and freezer/DC operations where rack protection, longevity, and repairability matter. Structural rack is positioned as the strongest, most durable pallet rack type.

Roll form double deep is a cost-focused way to improve density; it’s best when impacts are controlled and you want lighter components and broad compatibility. Advance has historically supported either roll form or heavy-duty structural in this configuration.
