Project and Design Engineer

Location: Huntington Beach, CA

Prepare technical drawings, engineering calculations, design guidelines, and specifications, estimate projects, enter product orders, perform structural calculations and engineering design work, and release projects to manufacturing for fabrication.  Provide assistance to manufacturing, sales and customer service.  Conduct occasional project site visits, new product devleopments and product testings.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assit with estimating of projects from start to finish (from doing take-offs to running structural analysis, getting outside quotes, hardware, freight an dinstallation quotes.).
  • Engineering of structural racking and structural components.
  • Design new products and custom parts and participate in new product development and engineering initiatives.
  • Assist with manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support and troubleshooting, manuals development, documentation creation and testing activities for rack systems to ensure compliance with design specifications, codes and/or customer requirements.
  • Prepare bill of materials and specifications for projects, products, materials and/or equipment.
  • Support project design and production efforts to ensure projects are completed on time and within established budget.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts for design to market speed, lean product development, value engineering and innovative designs.
  • Visit job sites for measurements, inspections, installer walk-thru's and to assist with sales calls.
  • Perform other miscellaneous engineering duties as required and assigned by management.

 

Qualifications:

  • BSc. degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or closely related field of study from an accredited college/university.  Professional Engineer (PE) strongly desired.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in product design and manufacturing.
  • Experience successfully working and interacting with customers, suppliers, engineers and other stakeholders at multi-levels of responsibility in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong system analysis, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Innovative, self-motivated and well organized.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaboration skills in a team environment are required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, provide excellent attention to detail and be willing and able to learn new technologies, quickly.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Familiar with FEA and other structural analysis and design software.
  • Efficient in AutoCAD and able to turn full project drawing sets over to cities for approval and permits.  Includes cover sheets, plan views, elevation views, detail sheets and bill of materials.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Inventor, Revit, RISA, SAP2000 or Visual Analysis is preferred.

Project Estimator

Location: Huntington Beach, CA

The Project Estimator partners with the sales team to deliver job estimates for engineered-to-order custom warehouse racking and storage systems to customers across the US.  The Project Estimator is customer service oriented, adaptable and able to be flexible in order to respond to the needs of the business.  He/she may possess experience with inside sales, inventory control, order entry and fulfillment, customer service and/or sales support in an engineer-to-order-business.  The Project Estimator has an exceptional customer service approach and is able to work independently and within a small project-based team environment.

Job Duties Include:

  • Review plans, specifications and RFPs from clients
  • Gather, compile, analyze and calculate data
  • Reviewplans and prepare estimates, bids and proposals
  • Interact with existing and potential customers, sales and engineering to determine and understand product requirements
  • Prepare take-offs from customer supplied CAD drawings
  • Develop Bills of Material using software tools and develop customer quotations
  • Prepare mathematically accurate and well organized estimates, project costs, manufacturing and delivery timelines
  • Accurately enter project information into the ERP system

Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • Experience in supply chain, material handling and/or construction industry
  • Prior sales support or customer service experience
  • An understanding of and/or interest in construction, engineering and technology
  • Outstanding interpersonal and analytical skills, detail orientation and mathematical aptitude
  • The ability to work independently, take initiative and ensure follow through
  • The ability to quickly build knowledge of products
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office experience (Word/PowerPoint/Excel/Outlook)
  • Prior experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (Cloudsuite Industrial or similar) a plus
  • Basic AutoCAD skills a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, preferred
  • The legal righ to work in the US without employment visa sponsorship
  • Gather, compile, analyze and calculate data

Purchasing Assistant

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Advance Storage Products is seeking a dynamic Purchasing Assistant with excellent communication and negotiation skills to join the Advance purchasing team.

The Purchasign Assistant will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, plant consumables, custom parts and supplies to support production schedules.  This position will work closely with Purchasing Manager to maintain company standards and follow established procedures.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure purchased materials meet quality standards and delivery is on a timely basis.
  • Ensure accuracy of all orders and creation of orders to vendors.
  • Plan and forecast purchasig and delivery of materials vital to ongoing daily operation.
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure on time delivery.
  • Coordinate daily scheduling of raw materials to be delivered to the plant.
  • Plan and manage inventory levels of materials and products.
  • Maintain files and records of vendor transactions.
  • Responsible for the receipt, verification and recording of raw materials and products delivered.
  • Demonstrate good working relationship with suppliers and other company employees.
  • Demonstrate good decision making, problem solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects at one time.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications required.
  • Procurement experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • MRP or EPR systems experience preferred.
